On Tuesday afternoon, 29 September, we will present a project investigating how the response of TLDs changes depending on where the dosimeter is worn.
From 1 – 5 June 2026, we will be at the 7th European IRPA Congress in Liverpool, a European meeting of the International Radiation Protection Association. Mauritius Hiller will deliver a talk on Thursday 4 June on the importance of robust Decision Support Systems, and how to support them for countries in the arid climate zone.

The 5th International Conference on Dosimetry and its Applications (ICDA-5) takes place in Prague from 7 – 11 June 2026. RadCon’s Simon Rombauer and Mauritius Hiller will present a poster co-authored with Ken Veinot from Y-12 National Security Complex on the Air Gap Effects on the Calibration and Neutron Response of TLD using Monte Carlo Methods.

RadCon at SCOPE 2025 in Saudi Arabia
RadCon’s Mauritius Hiller will be attending the 2nd Saudi International Conference on Nuclear Power Engineering (SCOPE 2025), taking place 2–6 November 2025 at KFUPM, in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
Building on the success of the inaugural event in 2023, SCOPE 2025 will gather leading researchers, scientists, and industry professionals to explore the role of nuclear science and engineering in shaping a sustainable energy future.
As part of the programme, Mauritius will deliver both a talk and a poster presentation, contributing to discussions on how radiation protection professionals can support clean and safe energy technologies in arid regions of the world.

Experts from RadCon will be taking part in ICRP 2025 – the 8th International Symposium on the System of Radiological Protection, hosted at the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal.
Natalia Semioshkina and Gabriele Voigt will be attending and presenting on radionuclide transfer factors in the arid climate zone as part of the scientific programme.
The conference runs from 7–9 October 2025.

RadCon’s Mauritius Hiller will be presenting at the upcoming 8th International Conference on Environmental Radioactivity (ENVIRA 2025) in Kraków, Poland.
Focusing on “Radionuclides in Climate Change Studies”, the conference gets under way on 14th September and wraps-up on the 19th.
Hosted by the Institute of Nuclear Physics Polish Academy of Sciences, in cooperation with Comenius University in Bratislava, ENVIRA is a well-established forum bringing together international experts to exchange knowledge on environmental radioactivity.

RadCon’s Mauritius Hiller has contributed an article to July’s edition of Nuclear News, the monthly journal of the American Nuclear Society.
The industry now has a real impetus behind it as countries look for flexible energy solutions to help meet Net Zero targets. Mauritius outlines how Radiation Protection professionals must influence developments from the design stage onwards, and how their educational role in explaining the technology is vital for the creation and maintenance of public trust.

RadCon’s Mauritius Hiller is presenting a poster on “Transfer of radionuclides from soil to Plants: Database for Radiological Impact Assessments in arid environment” at the ICRER conference in Marseilles, France. The poster will be displayed in Session 6 “Understanding and modelling radionuclide mobility and bioavailability in the environment” on Wednesday, November 27 and Thursday, November 28. The Poster number is P6-31.
It looks at the background of the database on transfer factors in the arid climate zone and gives an outlook on the future development, making the data accessible for researchers.

RadCon’s Mauritius Hiller has published a new paper in the journal Radiation and Environmental Biophysics. Co-authored by Ken G. Veinot and Nolan E. Hertel, it looks at the ‘Influence of neutron cross-section resonances on organ/tissue equivalent and effective dose coefficients for the ICRP voxel phantoms’.

The materials which compose the ICRP Voxel phantoms used in the computation of conversion coefficients involve neutron interaction cross-sections that have resonances at specific energies. Depending on the energy bin structure used in the computations, these cross-section resonances may occur at energies that fall between energies at which dose coefficients are computed, thus their effects may not be completely accounted for in the reported coefficients. In the present study, a highly refined energy grid that closely follows the resonance structure in the phantom material cross-sections was identified and used to calculate dose coefficients.

RadCon GmbH’s Gabriele Voigt and Natalia Semioshkina will be presenting a poster at the forthcoming IUFRO – International Union of Forest Research Organizations conference in Stockholm. The event will bring together policymakers and experts committed to shaping a sustainable future for forests and society from all over the world.
Gabriele and Natalia will be available to discuss issues on long-term environmental processes in forest ecosystems and present results on “Transfer of natural radionuclides from soil to Abu Dhabi date palms” at the poster session on Thursday, June 27 between 13:30–14:15.
Gabriele will also be chairing a session looking at the long-term dynamics of the radioactive contamination of forests, and its impact on ecosystems and communities and potential countermeasures. That will take place on Tuesday, June 25, 08:30–10:30. She will also co-edit a special issue of JER on that topic.
